Plug-N-Protect  Frequently Asked Questions

If you don't see answers to your questions here, click here, or on the link at the bottom of the page.

Q: Will the Plug-N-Protect drain my car battery?

A: The Plug-N-Protect utilizes a super bright highly efficient LED light that will not drain your battery, even if you keep it in operation for months at a time.

Q: How can I tell if my cigarette lighter/power outlet is functional even when my ignition is turned off?

A: Simply remove your ignition key and push in your cigarette lighter, or insert an electronic device, such as a cell phone or portable CD or cassette player.  If the device works, then your outlet will work for Plug-n-Protect.  Note: Make sure your electronic device is drawing its power from the cigarette lighter/power outlet and not from its own batteries.  If the device does not work, you can rewire your cigarette lighter/power outlet. Rewiring your outlet will allow you to use your outlet in other ways.  Click here to see how.

Q: How will I know if it is effective?

A: We never know how many thieves walk past our vehicles looking for an easy score.  The best we can do is stack the odds in our favor.  If we can deter just one thief from breaking into our vehicle, the Plug-N-Protect Alarm Indicator will have paid for itself many times over.

Q: Can the thief tell the difference between an alarm simulator and an actual alarm?

Plug-n-Protect looks most like a real alarm in dimly lit areas, at night, or in vehicles with dark interiors and/or with tinted windows.

Q: Is the Plug-n-Protect equally effective day or night?

A: Plug-n-Protect is most effective at night or in dimly lit areas, which is where most vehicular theft occurs. However, Plug-n-Protect can also be effective during the day in vehicles that have tinted windows and/or dark interiors.

Q: Is the Plug-N-Protect Alarm Indicator guaranteed to prevent crime?

A: Although even the most sophisticated alarm systems cannot completely stop a determined professional thief from breaking into your vehicle, protecting your vehicle with a theft deterrent, such as with Plug-N-Protect will reduce your chances of becoming a victim of crime.  To learn more, check out How it Works.

Q: Can I use Plug-N-Protect with my existing alarm system?

A: Yes, Even if your vehicle already has an actual alarm system, you can still use Plug-N-Protect for added protection against crime.

Plug-N-Protect Alarm Indicators can help protect your vehicle, especially if your current alarm system...

  • does not have a blinking light

  • has a light, but it is not very bright

  • has a light, but it is very small

  • has a light, but it is mounted in a location that is not easily visible from both sides of the vehicle.

Q: Does it really work?

A: Yes, for more information, check out How it Works.
